Movie Monday

Hey y'all!

Okay, so first off, I apologize profusely about being MIA for over a month... Unexcusable and it was honestly my pure laziness. I am back for sure and hopefully will never miss another day, ever!

This week is all about The Hunger Games.

Mockingjay: Part One premiered on the 21st and I didn't go see it.

I'm crazy, I know. I had a chance and I didn't take it. Then I had work on Saturday and on Sunday, I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival (which if you've never been, you're missing out my friend. You are miss. Ing. Out. Because it is fabulous) with one of my best friends and his family. I had an amazing time and got some great souvenirs.

Back to today's subject!

So, to be honest, I have not seen this movie, but I just wanted to record my doubts, thought, theories and whatnot.

I'll be blunt, the romantic aspect of the entirety of this series never appealed to me. The actual Hunger Games was my absolute favorite part of both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. Maybe I just crave chaos and insanity or something but I loved those parts of the book. Personally, I think I'm just an action-kinda girl and I am okay with this.

SPOILER ALERT! THERE WILL BE SPOILERS AHEAD.

Okay, so having said that, so far, my favorite movie is The Hunger Games. There was soooo much about the actual Games that I was like, "Yeeeeesssssss." I was looking forward to a lot in Catching Fire and then got maaaaybeeee 30 minutes of footage. I was horrifically disappointed. I thought they spent a lot of time on the tour and what happened in the Capitol. I also cannot watch this movie all the way through again because *sigh* of Cinna.

He was my absolute favorite character.

Y'all, I loved him. Truly. I thought he was a great ally for Katniss so I flippin' bawled when I read about his death in Catching Fire. Watching it in the movies was noooo different. I sobbed. Even thinking about it is bringing tears to my eyes and I'm ridiculously exhausted at this moment. (Which explains this horrible state of the post but I just typed this out in possibly 10-15 minutes to have something to post. I apologize most profusely for its state)

I'm glad that his death affected Katniss heavily, though. That made me feel better.

Which brings me to another death.

I wonder when Prim will die.

That was such an important part of the book and, really, it defined how the book was going to end and who Katniss really could choose to be with.

I thought Gale could have been the one but after the whole bomb thing, I was like, "Oh, jkssss..."

So seeing her end up with Peeta was kinda a foregone conclusion.

Poor Peeta though. Before the Revolution was over, I mean.

The whole brainwashing thing? I thought that was the worst. I always kinda wondered if he was able to see himself tell the lies and he just kinda had to watch without being able to do anything about it.

SPOILERS END HERE

You always knew that he was a guy who truly cared for Katniss, for nothing other than Katniss' strength was something he deeply admired as well as her fierce love for her family and desire to provide for them.

That was something I always thought was suuuper sweet of him.

Lastly, here's a bombshell to completely rock y'all's worlds. :)

I dislike the character Katniss.

What's that? You didn't quite catch that? Here, let me make it easier for you to see.

I dislike the character Katniss. I dislike the character Katniss. I dislike the character Katniss.

I think she's incredibly stubborn, selfish, way too reckless in that she really doesn't think through things- I just-argh.

Just argh.

There are other reasons, but I can't list them. That'd take forever and I can't think of them at the moment because again, tired.

Do I have something against Jennifer Lawrence and her flawless acting skills, you may wonder? My goodness, no, what's wrong with you? JenLaw freakin' slays.

I just legitimately dislike a character in a novel for reasons that are my own and I'm pretty set in this viewpoint. Please try not to change it.

Okay, love y'all and see ya tomorrow for Tunes Tuesday, PROMISE!!

Laterz,
Trina

Movie Monday: Guardians of the Galaxy

Hey y'all!

As today is Monday, we're gonna focus on the latest blockbuster in theaters...

Guardians of the Galaxy

This movie, if you have not seen it already, means you need to get up and go watch it. Now.

This movie was absolutely perfect! I absolutely loved every moment of it. It was hilarious, perfectly casted, and just downright the best movie I've seen so far in the action-comedy genre.

I will say that there were a ton of 80's references which was not a bad thing. They really added to the movie. I don't remember too much of the comics but I have to say going just based on how the movie portrayed them, these characters are timeless. I adored them entirely.

The plot was definitely interesting and it kept me on the edge of my seat for most of the time. I honestly can't wait to see the movie again but I do have to confess... I'd like to see it again to be purely analytical.

SPOILER ALERT:

If you go further, you're spoiling parts of the Marvel© universe for yourself. I am literally making this text black to spare you the unneeded grief from being spoiled.

Why, you ask? Because every Marvel© movie has secrets about every other Marvel© movie. My first love is and will always be Captain America who, as y'all should know, is the enigmatic leader for the superhero group entitled the Avengers. Therefore, following at a close second on my favorites, is the Avengers. As Avengers 2: Age of Ultron is coming out soon(ish), I am prepared to go to answer many questions that I have gathered:

What exactly is going to happen?

Will Ultron win?

How does Thanos play a part in all this?

The Infinity Gauntlet is going to show up, right?

Speaking of, exactly how many stones are left? (Cause weren't there some stones visible when we saw it last?)

Now that one stone has been uncovered, who's going to uncover the other stones?

Peter Parker has kinda been in his own world and there hasn't been much crossover... will that ever change?

How will the two new Avengers fit in with the stellar team dynamic?

What on God's green earth happened to the Tesseract if the Collector's collection was pretty much decimated in Guardians?

Is there ever going to be a crossover where all of the Marvel© universes finally come together to save the day somehow? (I'm not even picky; I don't care what's going on)

And finally, the most important question for any Marvel© fan...

Where is Deadpool and why hasn't he been given a bigger part than Ryan Reynolds/Scott Adkins in X-Men Origins: Wolverine?

I think about these questions a lot. I would appreciate them being answered, Marvel©. I don't think it's too much to ask for at all. I understand it'll take some time but hints here and there, those I live for.

Which brings us back to why I want to see the movie again. Y'all don't understand; I take these movies pretty seriously after I've seen them for a few times... It's after I've felt I've analyzed them well that I watch them for fun.

(Oh wait, jks, cause I'll watch Cap anytime. Just for grins.)

I have to say, that is one of the reasons I really do like the Marvel© universe. Everything is connected and so you never know what could happen. I also appreciate that Marvel Studios© is now making the movies that are pretty much comics come-to-life. I love that.

These comics are amazing and I could never ever get tired of reading them so seeing them brought to the big screens and just basically seeing my heroes come alive... It's an experience like no other and I'm so thankful that I'm alive in this time period.

Crazy obsession aside, the movie is truly one-of-a-kind and deserves a huge audience to fall in love with it.

Update on exercise and stuff: I finished Day 1 of the Beginner's Calendar today. It wasn't too hard but I was a little sore. I'll keep up with the calendar as best I can.

Laterz,
Trina

Movie Monday (12/23)

Hey y'all!

Welcome to Movie Monday!

Focus of this week...

CATCHING FIRE

OH

EM

GEE

Y'ALL

OH EM GEE

This movie was amazing! Of course, I read the books but I did not re-read it before seeing the movie and I think that made a difference! A friend from work told me that she and her friend re-read it before seeing the movie and it did not lead up to expectations.

I saw it with my Dad and we got a little antsy towards the end because we still had to pick up my brother from school, even though it started at 12:05!! Anyways, this movie is definitely worth it!! I'm going to try and finish the book by Friday for Feature Friday but we'll see! I'll definitely be looking back on here to gauge the differences and how I feel.

I really, really enjoyed it though! Of course, I enjoy almost every movie I see as I am entertained quite easily. Now, I did have one thing that I thought could have been a little less.....

ALL THE ROMANCE

I get it. The romance is a big thing. But good grief, I was expecting to see MORE of the actual Quarter Quell and not Peeta and Gale trying to make their mark. I am sorry if you disagree with me; I'm only sharing how I feel and I feel that Katniss is losing her edge juuuust a tad. I still love this series with all my heart and soul so I shall continue to watch and read forever and ever.

Now, onto real life impact. Oh my gosh, talk about fitness inspiration!! I'm definitely going to work out now!! Putting yourself into the mindset of the Hunger Games is craaazy inspiring!! It definitely makes you want to go beast mode ;) (thank you Cassey)

Well, have tons of fun (or at least try) with school starting again this week!

Lots of love,
Trina
