O Tidings of Comfort and Joy

Hey y'all!

Alrighty, so for today's Tunes Tuesday, I did say I was going to keep it festive and so I'd like to spotlight an old holiday album but one that I hold dearly as I first heard it as a child. Growing up in the milennium, there were a few things that I know if you didn't do/hear/watch it yourself, you heard/had knowledge of its existence. One of these things is the sister duo, Aly & AJ. They came out with a holiday album and I absolutely love it.

My favorite track on there has to be "Not This Year" cause sometimes that's how I feel. Of course, the whole reason for this holiday has religious basing but for those who don't believe or celebrate it in that way, it can be so consumed with gift-getting and everything so this song is definitely for the people who feel Scrooge-y but are not actually in fact, Scrooge himself. That is probably a really bad way to put it but it's true.

I also love "We Three Kings" because it's my favorite Christmas carol. Especially when I'm at Mass, I really love to sing that one. I'm not sure what it is about the song that makes me love it so much but it's just been my favorite since I was little. I suppose what I love about it is that it is very low in key and not overly loud or high voice wise as I'm a mezzo-alto but a little bit lower. I can't hit all the crazy high notes but I can hit some.

To put it short, this is a great holiday album, sung by two really great people. Hope your holidays are going fabulously! Mine sure are.

Trina

Tunes Tuesday

Hey y'all!

Welcome back to Tunes Tuesday! I've been having phone issues so I kinda lost all my tags so I won't be able to do a Shazam thing for ya but since it is December, I decided my tunes posts should be holiday-themed!!

So, this is one of my favorite holidays songs but I'm not sure if counts?? If y'all don't know, I love a mixture of different genres but one of my absolute favorite bands is Bastille. I actually saw them live when they were here in Houston at NRG Park Arena and aaaahhhhh, it was amazing.

They have a song called "Tuning Out" which starts out with lyrics from "O Holy Night" and I just love Dan's voice, really. That's what makes this one of my favorite holiday songs. It is also very mellow and really chill. The song is just relaxing to listen to and it's definitely been on my Spotify playlist, That One Song and I admit to having listened to it on repeat for, um, quite a while...

So, that's it for today's post! They'll get longer once I get used to writing again.

Trina

Tunes Tuesday

Hey y'all!

I'm so glad I'm back. Honestly, I've been so stressed and go-go-go 24/7 that this is something really relaxing that I love to do. Anyways, here is this week's favorite song!

The Heart Wants What It Wants by Selena Gomez

I have to admit, watching the AMA awards on Sunday, I really only watched Selena's performance as I had just gotten home from the Texas Renaissance Festival and it juuust do happened that she started her performance when I got in the door. Literally.

So I watched her performance and was blown away. Oh my goodness, there was so much in that performance I wanted to bawl just like Taylor Swift did, apparently. (Just kidding, there was just pics of T. Swift getting emotional. Love you, T!!)

I then proceeded to go upstairs to my room, listen to the song on repeat and watch the music video. I tweeted how I felt horrid and that my heart pretty much was ripped out of my chest and so that's why this week is dedicated to her.

I'm not current on her love life (and honestly, I don't hope to be unless I am a personal, good friend of hers. I think it's kinda creepy about that stuff but I completely understand cooing over relationships and whatnot) and so I'm not sure if the song is about Justin Bieber or not, but whoever it is about, I am HERE for her. She should not have to go through this alone. At all.

As it is, I can't get over this song. Personally, I see it as even though the relationship is destructive that the person singing (whoever, really) is still in it because of their heart. I know, I'm a weirdo. But, this view has actually inspired me creatively (a huge amount) and so I should have some stuff written out and drawn (maybe) soon.

Hope y'all enjoy the song just as much as I have!

Trina

Tunes Tuesday

Hey y'all!

Argh, I just have to work out a schedule for this thing cause otherwise, I'll never get the hang of this thing. Anyways! I'll post the Shazam tags for September either later today or as my entry for next week's Tunes Tuesday. We'll see!

Today, I would like to highlight a song I think is particularly Halloween-inspired as it is the month of Octoberrrrr. Now y'all may judge me for this but even though I am 20 years old, I absolutely love going to the movies to see the latest G-rated movie. I even get excited to go see them. Crazy, I know.

As such, the featured song for today was part of the movie Hotel Transylvania that came out in 2012 with Selena Gomez, Adam Sandler and some other celebs. I thought the whole concept was adorable! I hope they'll feature it in 13 Nights of Halloween on ABCFamily but who knows.

The song is "Problem (The Monster Remix)" by Becky G feat. Will.i.am

I love this song and when I heard it last night for the first time in a while (via my This is Halloween Spotify playlist), I automatically knew that I wanted it as my tuesday tune special. I'm always in the Halloween spirit in October but this song was one of my favorites from my playlist.

It is featured in the credits of Hotel Transylvania. I actually like Becky G & Will.i.am as separate artists so to hear them together was pretty neat. The music video was interesting too cause it shows both of them performing, as always, and also clips from the movie.

Alrighty, hopefully I'll keep up with this better!

Tunes Tuesday

Hey y'all!

Omgosh, I am sooo sorry for being MIA for like... Ever! That's horrible. Thankfully, October is almost here!!! Isn't that exciting?! I love October. A lot. It has Halloween and my best friend's birthday is this month. My half-birthday is this month. Ugh, October is just so awesome.

Anyways, I wanted to highlight a single I've been listening to via Google Music for a while now. As in, for the past few days, I've just listened to it on repeat. It's actually by a rapper which is odd, I know, as I've only showcased pop and alternative so far... I think. But, if you know nothing about me, I listen to everything. Except for country and even then, it's very few artists in that genre I listen to. It's kinda hilarious as I live in Texas and almost all of my friends listen to country. I have stayed strong but I'm sure I'll soon start listening to them as well.

The single is by IAMSU! and it's called Only That Real feat. 2 Chainz and Sage Gemini. Now, I got it for free which I highly recommend to Android users to use Google Music or anyone who can get access. Through Google Music, I've gotten Katy Perry's album Prism and Ariana Grande's album My Everything for free. Isn't that the best thing you've ever heard? It's the best for me. I love it. I use it a lot when I'm not using Spotify or when my Spotify app just freaks out for some reason or other.

I'm not sure how to describe the single as, well, it is explicit so definitely don't listen to it in front of polite company if you can. Or your parents, depending on how old you are. I like it because it seems particularly mellow and it doesn't change pitch too much. It's kind of like background music and it seems pretty chill. I suppose that's really what got me hooked is that I can listen to it and it's not too loud or anything.

Alrighty guys, I'm back for reals this time. See y'all tomorrow!!

Trina

Tunes Tuesday

Hey y'all!

So for this Tunes Tuesday, I actually have something pretty new for once. It is surprising, I know. Anyways, my sister actually brought my attention to this song a week ago today so I should have listened to it & talked about it then but I didn't because I was on the Sia Chandelier train.

This song apparently first came out on tumblr, which if you're a tumblrer or you tumble or however you say it, then you probably heard it way before the rest of the world. The track I'm talking of is Fall Out Boy's new single, "Centuries."

Some people may have already heard of this and I applaud you for that. But if you haven't... Click on that link right now and revel in the awesomeness of Fall Out Boy. Seriously, I even tweeted about this single. Which for some reason, I'm not too active on Twitter. I should fix that.

Anyways, I just thought I'd bring your attention to this amazing new song cause it's definitely one of my favorites at the moment. I still love "Chandelier" but "Centuries" is just giving me amazing feelings. This is definitely my #1 track for Fall Out Boy so far. I'm not sure what brings me to this decision.

I have been a loyal Fall Out Boy fan for... good grief, almost 7 years now. That's crazy, isn't it? So while it is odd I say this now, it may just be that I really, really like it right now. I'll probably love the next song they release just as much.

Tunes Tuesday

Hey y'all!!

Welcome to another Tunes Tuesday!! Argh, I'm really not good at this blogging thing, am I?? I'm trying, really!! I think it's just me being lazy but I'll work harder at actually posting these instead of just leaving them as drafts.

Now, I may be so, super late to this party but oooohhhhh, what a party to be at. As most of you know, the wonderful Sia released her album, 1000 Forms of Fear, recently-ish.... Okay, okay, it's been a while & no, I'm not trying to introduce the album. Y'all know the album is great.

I was curious today after watching Nick Pitera's piano cover of her song, "Chandelier" &, on a whim, I decided to watch the music video. Aaand, now I can't stop. Oh, dear heaven above, it's so intricate!! I'm not even sure what's my favorite part, honestly. I think I love it all because it is AMAZEBALLS. Listening to just the song on the radio, Spotify, or whatever, I had an idea of what the song's lyrics meant & I thought maybe I knew what the music video was going to look like.

Oh my gosh.

I had no flippin' idea.

I started watching it & for one solid moment I thought the performer was Sia. Then I noticed it was a young girl. I just stared enthralled at the screen for the rest of the video. This girl is amazing. I'm definitely not a professional dancer, even though I'd love to be, but I felt her performance was life-changing.

Her moves screamed flawless & graceful. Her facial expressions were spot-on for the vibe I felt the video was giving off. Overall, the video gave me the feels that it was a child/child-like psyche that simply deteriorated into a set of moves that was muscle memory.

It also seemed as if the home-life wasn't the best, from certain movements the dancer did and how the rooms looked inside of what I'm guessing was an apartment. I'm not sure I know what the catalyst was for the deterioration, but I have to say I absolutely loved it. Anything with the human psyche just kinda gets me all up in arms about how awe-inspiring it can be.

Side note, I'm also not a professional critique giver (is that a word?? Is that even a thing??). I simply say what I feel. & this is how I feel about this video. So this whole rant-y kinda blogpost is a bit new but I wanted to blog today (I'm really, really trying, I promise!!!) & so I decided to write this. The performer is Maddie Ziegler. Is it crazy to say she looked familiar?? It wasn't until I looked her up to credit her in this post that I found out she was on Dance Moms. & I love Dance Moms.

Weirdly enough, I was very proud that Maddie was chosen to perform this song. I'm not related to her at all but I always relate to T.V. people & so of course, on my reality shows, I feel for all these people. Hence the pride but me thinking it odd because I don't even know her. Oh well.

Do y'all like that I did something different?? Does it matter how I write these?? Should I just write more?? I'm pretty sure I should just write more... Alrighty, well, that is everything & I'll see ya tomorrow for Workout Wednesday!!

Laterz,
Trina
